Still from Home Video digital video 2 mins 2018
The image used in this video is taken from a Polaroid photograph. The image is of the house I moved into a short time before my first child was born and it was taken just before we left. Home Video, was made using this one photograph of my house. The image was photocopied repeatedly until the ink cartridge ran out and the image was broken down. It became only partially recognisable leaving spaces to be filled back in. This process acts like memory taking away the solidity and structure of the image leaving only a trace. The initial photocopied images are then scanned digitising the grain, smoothing it over, remaking the past in the future. The images in Home Video become memory images- memories of how this place might be recalled and brought back to life.
